Offset Projects
Planetair currently obtains its carbon offsets from myclimate, a Swiss supplier that is ranked among the top in the world for the quality of their services. myclimate projects lead to a direct reduction of greenhouse gases at the source. They achieve this aim by replacing fossil fuels with renewable energies, through energy saving measures and by introducing efficient technology and processes. Transparency, additionality and the verifiable and measurable reduction of emissions have highest priority, and all projects are validated and certified independently.
The projects must meet a set of stringent project criteria. In addition to verifiably reducing greenhouse gases, they have to contribute to sustainable local development. Special attention is paid to the economic and social compatibility and to the integrity of the projects. All projects must successfully pass 10 sustainability criteria.
Through its partnership with myclimate, Planetair is the first Canadian offsetter to offer Gold Standard carbon credits. The carbon credits Planetair procures from myclimate are Gold Standard-certified, adhering to the strictest criteria currently defined for the carbon offset market.
For the implementation of its projects, myclimate works closely with local partners. These organisations ensure that the projects are established conscientiously and are supervised correctly.
For the time being, all offsets Planetair sells derive from projects in developing countries. Planetair hopes to offer Canadian offset projects if the market supports such a move.
